Ally’s Act- Children and adults need access to hearing devices

A bipartisan bill is currently being introduced to make insurance companies cover bone anchored hearing devices as well as cochlear implants for children and adults to age 64. This is the kind of hearing device I use every day. Many insurance companies refuse to pay for them- or only will cover them in very particular circumstances.

My bone anchored hearing aid literally helps keep me safe. It assists me in running my small family business. Having a hearing device eases the challenges of motherhood with hearing loss. I am able to be a more active community member because I have my hearing device. I truly love having it and I can’t stress enough the importance of insurance helping to cover these life changing medical devices.

Ally’s Act,  H.R. 4606 and (senate number pending) are national level bills that were reintroduced on July 22, 2025 ensuring that private insurance companies cover bone anchored hearing systems (BAHS) and cochlear implant systems (CI) for both children and adults from birth to age 64, including services, upgrades, surgery, and associated costs that come along with these hearing devices. If Ally’s Act becomes the law, this bill would ensure hundreds of thousands of children and adults have access to life-changing treatment, allowing them to live the lives they dream, participate in their workplace and community, and enjoy a high quality of life. These implantable hearing systems give children and adults their lives back!
